My computer doesn't load on startup, the windows logo is shown, then the screen goes blank afterwards. When I try "last known configuration" the same this happens. It's Windows 7 Professional 32 bit
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Can you access safe mode to do a System Restore to a date just before the problem?

I forgot to ask if you can access Safe Mode or does that give you a blank screen also?

I have had this happen before. It could be a number of things. In my case, the hard drive was dying/dead.
I don't think that is considered "blank", at least not by me. I thought you meant the screen was black with no graphics. Seems like Windows is having problems loading itself. See if you can access safe mode.

Yes, I am able to access Safe Mode

Do a clean boot. If that works you will have to narrow down the startup item or service that is causing the problem by uncheck them under the startup and .services tabs. Be sure to check Hide Microsoft Services as you do not want to disable those.
Edit: You can access msconfig in SafeMode.

Ok John, I tried the clean boot, but the link said " Select the Hide All Microsoft Services check box. Now click Disable all" But you said "you do not want to disable those" I am confused. Any way I tried it as per your instructions and I am getting the same thing as before...after showing the user login, once I typed in my info.......... the screen goes blank afterwards

Sorry for the confusion on my part. I meant you do not want to disable any Microsoft Services if that box was unchecked after doing the clean boot (if it worked) and then starting to uncheck services and startup items
In safe mode go to the following folder C:\Windows\System32\config\Regback
What is the date listed for the files in Regback?

9/15/2014

The only thing I can think of at this point is to download Autoruns to a USB and run it in safe mode. Right click the EXE and Run as Administrator. File Save and upload it to a dropbox or similar account and I will look at it. It would also help if you download Minitoolbox, check List installed programs and List last 10 event errors.Post the log.
Edit: Was this an older computer that was just recently booted up? I can't explain why Regback has such an old date on the registry hives.
