Anyone aware of whether this is just the same as if it was my laptop going from 7 to 8 to 8.1, or whether there is something that makes this not doable? I.e. if you have a Windows 8 tablet, Windows 8 it will remain for all time.
Just curious at this stage.

In general, Microsoft has stated that systems running Win 7, 8, & 8.1 will be entitled to a free upgrade to Windows 10 during the first year.
I would check closely with your tablet's website to see if it will run Win 10 on release or whether it might require certain updated drivers.

but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant!
