I have owned 3 nintendo ds in my life and its always the L and R buttons that break first. They are the buttons I use the least so I don't understand..

Happened to me too. It is the hallmark of the NDS Lites. It was pretty much the reason I stopped using it. I heard it was fixed with the DSi, but I am not sure.

Actually I have both DS and DSi, DSi one broke too..

I haven't had any issues with my 3DS... though to be fair I don't use it on a regular basis.

It only happens if you use the shoulder buttons frequently, like on Metroid DS. Also, Nintendo may have fixed the issue with the 3DS.

Actually, I read about this weird trick where you blow really hard into edges of the L and R buttons and they work again for a little while.
It's really strange but its worked for both my and my brothers DSi, which were both having trouble with the L and R buttons.
I haven't had this issue the the 3DS yet...

I've personally never witnessed them breaking or anything of the sort. Maybe you're using them to aggresively?
