A man has been arrested by officers from the South East Regional Organized Crime Unit as part of the investigation into the hack on the online servers belonging to the children's toy maker company VTech. As reported earlier this month, the personal information of close to 5 million parents and 200,000 children was accessed by a hacker who broke into VTech's servers. Though the data was never released, it had shown a serious flaw in how VTech was storing data sent by VTech devices.
According to a press release issued by the South East Regional Organized Crime Unit (SEROCU), a 21 year old man has been arrested in Bracknell for suspicion of unauthorized access to a program or online data. As part of this arrest, various electronic items were seized so that they could be examined by SEROCU’s Cyber Crime eForensics Unit, who has been investigating the hack on VTech's servers.
