Yes, It seems that there are more terms or actions that will be different, between the two procedures, . .

but if it means format why then further down the list does it instruct to format ?

Also shouldn't my Floppy Drive have appeared in the Disk Part, (previous SS) ?

Since the Flash drives is a FAT32 is it possible this is the reason it is not appearing, ?

I used REscan in the DPU, but it still did not recognize the Flash Drive.

Here is the definition of "clean" from the diskpart help:

Removes any and all partition or volume formatting from the disk with focus.

There is only one partition on your flash drive. Formatting it simply wipes everything on it. In your case, cleaning then formatting would achieve the same thing as just formatting (if it had multiple partitions, it would be different).

If there is nothing on the flash drive and the file system is already FAT32, then you don't have to do all these steps. Just set it as active (right-click > Mark partition as active), and copy the files from the disk to it. You should be able to boot off the flash drive after that (don't forget to change the booting order in the BIOS of the netbook).

Sorry were running into technical snags, but there seems to be nothing that would prevent me from simply D/L ; 7OS to (F:) ?

I'm sorry, but you will have to be more detailed in your question. I don't know what you are asking.

I'm saying why not simply install the Systems Disc directly to the Flash drive ?

Is partitioning actually needed ?

Or do I have this wrong and that the OS 7 should be loaded to a Partion on a main disc then dragged from W. Exp. to the Flash drive ?

Please don't use abbreviations in your posts. I know it seems like it is faster to type, but it makes my job very difficult as I have to decipher what you have posted. Thanks.

You can.

No, like I said, the flash drive only has one partition. There is no need to create another.

Simply copy the files from the DVD and mark the flash drive's partition as active. Note: this does not always work 100% of the time, but it is the first thing to try.

Let me see if I am in sinc with you,

inserting the disc into my Desk top, then is it going to give me the opportunity to direct it to the Flash Drive, if so is that where I will encounter the promt to, "make it active", ?

Not exactly. Windows Explorer will allow you to drag and drop the files from the disk to the flash drive. Simply open up My Computer, open the flash drive, then (without closing the open window) open My Computer in a new window and navigate to the disc. Position these windows side by side. Select all the files on the disc. Drag and drop them into the flash drive window (before dropping you might see something that says "Copy to F:", this is correct).

Now, go back to the Disk Management I showed you earlier. Right-click your flash drive, and select "Mark partition as active". This should make it bootable.

I'm sorry for being unclear before.

Not a problem, . .
I loaded the system disc onto the flash drive, this was done as then contents of the disc were displayed in MY Computer, and I copied them to the Flash Drive,

and set the boot on the ACER to
1. USB FDD:
There are three USB ports one on the left and two on the right of the ACER.

But I could not get it to load, . .

I did not, . . ." go back to the Disk Management I showed you earlier. Right-click your flash drive, and select "Mark partition as active". This should make it bootable".

So I guess I will try to find out what you are saying and place the flash back into the Desk Top,

I'll be back directly because I don't think I have found the, "Mark partition as active"

And of course, we have to go back to the primitive diskpart to do this (for some stupid reason, sometimes you cannot mark a partition as active using the Disk Management). Let's hope your flash drive shows up this time.

At the command prompt, type:

diskpart

list disk

select disk 2 (where 2 is the number corresponding to your flash drive)

list partition

select partition 1

active

exit

exit

Ref. Disk Part ; Does not show Disk 2 !

You can try that. There is no reason for the flash drive to not show up in diskpart(I'm assuming you have it plugged in and can access the root of the flash drive before you try the diskpart, i.e. the system recognizes it).
