OK. Rebooted the desktop, and I'm back on it from my phone.
It was fine so far, and performed a weekly regular update at the same time.

No, I didn't do a system restore, I was thinking trying to avoid it would be better, although I have backed up files etc in case I have to.
What else do you suggest I check if anything ?

I would suggest in Start Search type Create a System Restore point and when it comes up Right Click it and Create a Shortcut to the Desktop. That way will remember to make one and easy to get to when want it Before you do something or install something.
Check that there you have enough room or increase the room so can have more Restore Points. Check C: Drive if have enough room in File Explorer or My PC. Turn on or off for other drives.
You mentioned DISM Stopping. Did you run CMD with a A Right Click run as Admin ??
From a DOS Command Prompt from START | type cmd.exe into the start search box | RIGHT-click on cmd.exe | select "Run as Administrator" then Copy/Paste --> :
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth command then Enter if it finds problems then reboot. (Completed Successfully : means reboot)
then
After : please Open another Admin Command Prompt and please run Copy/Paste --> SFC /SCANNOW
EDIT : Note Dism always looks like it is hanging somewhere around 57%. Need to just wait till it finishes.

OK PKshadow. its late now, so if you think so, I'll do it tomorrow or in the next few days (I'm not home much lately), but I'll read it all through so I'm clear on how to do it all.
I'll get back, but thanks for this. BTW, I'm happily retired so not doing anything next lol.
Edit
All the protection guards are up and a quick scan is clear.

Yes you can but suggest not to. Then will know they are there. Can if wish to :=}
Is one of the 1st things I do after a Install is to show those and I never hide them.

True. I'm being over cautious, I don't dabble in registry or programming things so I would never touch any of them.

Edit
I've done it for a general system restore shortcut, but not for this specific one.

You'll be much better off creating disk images on a regular basis. System restore is great - when it works. Over the years I've seen too many instances of System Restore failing at the one time it's needed. Creating disk images on external media (or an internal 2nd drive) and keeping at least two full images is a virtually foolproof method of insuring you always have a safe haven to which you can return if needed.

Thanks Allan. I've always kept back up files, on a portable hard drive, for years, of my photos, files, etc, and updated them regularly. I suppose a backup of operational system is different; if thats what you mean. I created one of windows 10 installation when i upgraded it myself from window 7, but my new desktop is brand new, installed, from a local dealer and so i haven't got one of windows 11.
I can't remember how i did it last time either.
