When I right clicked under the playback devices tab, the show disabled devices was already selected and so was show disconnected devices. Still nothing there.

Ok, so I can click on any INF files. However, you didn't answer if it would be a problem or not if I am running Windows 7 but the options available are only Windows XP and Windows Vista. Is this a problem? Obviously I don't run either of these so which one do I ultimately go with?

Do you refer to the link tutorial is for Vista or the audio drivers from your folder?

No the tutorial is fine. I was following it step by step but when I got to step 9, when it asks me to do the "locate file" I find the file and go through the options in that file, I am only given the choices of Windows Vista and Windows XP which I do not use. So, can I continue using one of these or am I not able to because there is not a Windows 7 choice?

Ok, so I tried to go through with it but I received a message: "Windows encountered a problem installing the driver software for your device." "Windows cannot load the driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)"

I'm stuck at this point...

Try going to Windows services.

Go to Start orb and type services.msc - Enter. Locate Audio Services and then check if its on Automatic. If not, double click and change to default startup, hit Apply - Exit or X. Try reinstalling the Gigabyte driver or better yet download a new driver installer which means removing the current realtek drivers on folder for it may be corrupted. Run the exe SPXXXX and see if it installs the driver. If not, follow the update driver steps again by device manager. If the problem persist still, boot to safemode and run the Gigabyte Realtek audio driver installer.

I checked the audio services and it is set to automatic. What is the exe SPXXXX you are referring to?

I'm sorry for the misinformation. I was looking at my own Audio devices which actually prompted me to reinstall my built-in sound and then downloaded your Gigabit audio drivers just to confirm your installer. The audio driver installer for your motherboard is mb_driver_audio_realtek_azali_amd - 118mb. Did you download a newer installer already?

Ok yes I did. Sorry it took so long. Busy time at work for me because of my profession. Done now. Ok, so after you're comment above I didn't do anything but delete all driver installers out of my download folder to start fresh and downloaded a new one. It, like all of the others I had, have that same description that you wrote above, "mb_driver_audio_realtek_azali_amd - 118mb." Now, what exactly do you want me to do now? I don't want to follow the above because you said there was misinformation and I don't want to screw something up.

Disregard the SPXXX exe as it refers to HP drivers. :)

What happen to the newly downloaded audio drivers when run? Same result?

Well it does the same thing when I download it. Like it I double click it in the download folder, it asks me where to extract to. Do I have to extract or should I just drop the exe into a folder somewhere?

When extracting, look into the prompt location and click ... to browse and select  C:\ or as default. When finished, an HD_Audio Folder would appear then look for Setup to run the audio driver.

Ok great. That's what I was trying to figure out a long time ago. Ok, did that, however...STILL doesn't work. Ran the install and rebooted and everything and still do not have volume. This is so frustrating...

Did it throw any error during installation or proceed as normal process? Do you still see any yellow exclamation on the audio device? It looks as if there is a problem with the sound chip hardware itself. Sorry to hear its not working on the way it should but no hope is lost as a PCI sound card is still viable in your case.

It ran smoothly and didn't show any errors. It finished and I checked everything out. Still had a red x over my speaker in my toolbar and when I open device manager, there are yellow exclamation marks for the audio. There are also yellow exclamation marks for "other devices" too but I don't know if that's important to know: "marvell 91xx Config ATA device" and "universal serial bus (USB) controller". Just figured I would mention that in case it's important.

I was worried about the sound ship being the problem. I believe that the sound ship is built into the motherboard with my particular motherboard. Is that something I can just replace if it's built in or am I going to have to resort to actually replacing my entire motherboard? Also, what's a PCI sound card?
