I have a new Win11 PC and a Samsung Galaxy S22. I have connected this Android phone to other Win11 PCs and have not had any trouble seeing the S22 as a new drive when I plug it in to a USB port.

But I get a message saying "Connected for charging" when I connect the S22 to my new Win11/25H2 PC.

I have gone into the S22 settings, turned on Developer Options, and have changed the DEFAULT ACTION for when the phone is plugged in to TRANSFER FILES, but I still do not get a new drive for the S22.

Hoping someone can tell me what I'm missing to make this phone connect with the ability to transfer files. (I use my phone for listening to music, and I'd like to put some new music on.)

Thanks,

Ken Y

This is almost always a USB connection issue, not Windows 11 itself.

Even if file transfer is set as the default, the S22 often connects in charge-only mode. After plugging it in, unlock the phone, swipe down, tap the USB notification, and manually select File transfer (MTP).

If it still doesn’t show up, try a different USB cable (many cables charge but don’t carry data) and plug directly into the PC, not a hub. Also check Device Manager to see if MTP USB Device appears.

In most cases, switching the USB mode from the notification or changing the cable fixes it.
