Setting up a new computer and disabled the touch pad and now the mouse doesn't not respond and I can't navigate.  I checked the battery in the mouse and it is okay.  What do I do?

EDIT - I powered down and when the computer restarted my Discord sign in popped up and I am able to enter text in the sign-in box.

AND after I restarted the computer - new updates were installed.

UPDATE  I did access settings and enabled the touch pad and noticed a default setting checked that keeps touch pad enabled when mouse is on.  I did have the mouse active.  But now the mouse isn't working.

Things to try -

Completely remove the mouse as a device in Bluetooth menu, restart, and then try to re-add device in Bluetooth settings.

If that doesn't work.

Open Device Manager (you can get there by right click the start button or type in device manager into the search bar in start) - Find "Mice and other pointing devices" - Right-click on mouse device "Uninstall device" - restart - try to start up the mouse again.

If that doesn't work.

Give up and buy a usb corded mouse?

Hi, Welcome to BC :=}

(I have no problem with W11 and Touchpad turned off.)    You say disabled why I say turned off.     So why the difference ??

Your UNKNOWN SYSTEM should/could as well have Function Keys that Turn Off the Touchpad.  : Read your UNKNOWN SYSTEM Manual

Turn Off When Typing

Go to Settings--> Bluetooth & devices>Devices--> then locate Touchpad options
Under Touchpad sensitivity, click on --> Advanced Touchpad settings.
In the Touchpad settings window, click on the --> Touchpad tab.
Under taps, click on the Settings button.
In the taps window, you should see an option called"Disable touchpad while typing." Uncheck this option to turn off the feature.
Save the changes, restart.

Turn Off

Or just go to Settings-->Bluetooth & devices and Touchpad is at the top of the page and Turn Switch to off.

Try unplugging the power cable for the laptop, and any/all usb devices, hold the power button for 30 seconds, then power it back up normally.
