Edition:  Windows 11 Home in S mode version 25H2

Windows Security is showing me that I need a quick scan.  I tried scanning, but it's hanging on me.

I tried updating the laptop with Windows Update & then doing the quick scan, but it still keeps hanging.

I tried turning off sleep mode & then doing the quick scan, but it still keeps hanging.

Any help would be appreciated!

Why are you running in S Mode ??  Least productive of anything ever made as well no idea if anything will work.  Why not change out of it ?

Reason things hang are OS issues, Malware and S Mode.

Suggest start by running this : https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/adwcleaner/ if it finds anything but PuP's open a topic in the Malware Revoval Forum and keep the Logs.

Do not skip the Last Step.  If you do not see the Last Step run it again.

From a DOS Command Prompt from START | type cmd.exe into the start search box | RIGHT-click on cmd.exe | select "Run as Administrator" then Copy/Paste --> :
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth command then Enter    if it finds problems then reboot. (Completed Successfully : means reboot)
then
After : please Open another Admin Command Prompt and please run Copy/Paste --> SFC /SCANNOW

Download and run : https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/automatically-fix-windows-security-issues-9041b976-e664-1a1d-0a82-607b0cbd7fc4

If the advice from Pks has not resolved your issue then you should go to the malware forum or ask a mod to move this post there.
