Deleted a VM. I checked the box that deleted all the associated files along with it. Is there a way to retrieve this vm?

Might find this of some use : https://www.techspot.com/news/100809-microsoft-windows-11-pro-or-win10-license.html  Limited time $10.00

When a Topic is related to the other should continue your stuff there instead of new Topics.

Might want to grab a couple...... :=}.

Since what I vaguely understand if system crashes and loose the VM then lost the license.

Think mentioned can not use it again once activated in a VM.

G'luck :=}

Yeah I was think about that. If I clone the vm and keep the hardware ID I should be able to reactivate the key in a new vm as long as I deactivate the key from the old vm. Still need to test this to make sure though.

Google Keyword Search : How to stop needing to activate a Windows 11 VM when delete it  AI Generated result below plus rest of results on page :

https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-d&q=How+to+stop+needing+to+activate+a+Windows+11+VM+when+delete+it

To avoid having to reactivate a Windows 11 VM every time you delete and recreate it, you need to use a volume licensing approach with a system preparation tool or reuse the virtual hardware identifiers

For individual users, the most common methods involve either leveraging a digital license tied to a Microsoft account or using the Sysprep tool when creating a master image

If you have a retail Windows 11 license tied to your personal Microsoft account, the license is linked to the VM's specific "hardware fingerprint". When you create a new VM, it has a new fingerprint, prompting reactivation

The most reliable way to reuse the license is to avoid deleting the original VM's configuration entirely, or to use the Activation troubleshooter

Do not delete the original VM: Instead of deleting and recreating the VM, keep a clean, activated base image file and make copies of that file for daily use. If a copy gets corrupted, delete the copy and make a fresh one from the base image

Use the Activation Troubleshooter: If you must create a new VM, link your digital license to your Microsoft account. After creating and booting the new VM, run the Activation troubleshooter in Settings > System > Activation. Select the option for "I changed hardware on this device recently" and choose the old VM's name from the list to transfer the license
