I got finger happy when deleting gmails on my iPad 18.3. Having deleted a number I then upgraded to 18.3 following which I deleted a few more. These were not backed up to iCloud (different address). Despite Apple saying they arent deleted for 30 days 2 are missing, most important of course. All the others are in All Mail. These two are not there or in the bin or spam. Any hope of finding them please?

Upgrading to a new phone operating system will not delete email. The email on google mail is stored in Trash once you delete and remains there until you permanently delete it.

Thank you for that comment.  So often odd things happen when upgrading so thought it was worth mentioning.  It is definitely not in Trash or All Mail and I have not deleted anything from either so it is just a mystery.  As mentioned above I have retried the info I wanted as my husband received a similar email from the firm involved.  I was hoping for a solution for if it happens again.  However panic over at present thanks.

Just open the Gmail on web and type:

from:someone@example.com subject:keyword before:2024/01/01

Emails sometimes don't show up in “All Mail” in Apple Mail, but are available in Gmail web. And, for future, you should set Gmail to Archive Instead of Delete in iOS Mail App: Go to Settings > Mail > Accounts > Gmail > Account > Advanced
Under “Move Discarded Messages Into”, choose Archive Mailbox, not Deleted.
