Trying here, because it's been very helpful in the past. I did try to find official help forums for this, but the steam help page is entirely dead it seems. And well, old game...

I bought a game called Vendetta: Curse of Raven's Cry. It's famous for bad voice acting and the like. Anyways I can't get it to work. I did try looking up people with these errors and found a singular unfinished thread, but this was with a user who had the Steam version of the game, I have it installed directly off a disk with not hookup to Steam(haven't done it yet) and that person said their issue was a Steam layout on the loading screen. Which isn't a issue for me, because I don't have it through Steam...

What it's doing: crashes if you skip the opening cutscene by clicking ESC, crashes during the cutscene even if you don't skip. Let it play all the way through, it got to the opening screen ONCE and the buttons did not react to me clicking them. Haven't been able to get to the opening screen since.

That is my only issue.

I'm not sure if there's anything to try, I did try compatibility mode with same issues. I'm unsure if there's a DLL file or something I may need to donwload, given it's old.

I think my Laptop's specs should be able to run it based off recommended specs for the game on google, my specs are:

Windows 11
Processor    Intel® Core™ i7-5600U CPU @ 2.60GHz   2.59 GHz
Installed RAM    16.0 GB (15.9 GB usable)
System type    64-bit operating system, x64-based processor

It doesn't lag or anything just crashes.

Thank you for your time  :thumbup2:

This game had numerous problems when released. You can read about it here, Raven's Cry - Wikipedia

This game had numerous problems when released. You can read about it here, Welcome to Steam ) has this game in it's library. I recommend you load Steam, and then buy it from them. Steam is pretty good about rehabilitating clunky games to make them run on more modern PCs. But, to get this perk, you have to run the game thru Steam. They also offer a perk of allowing you to play the game for 2 hours (DON'T exceed this time limit!), and if you don't like it, or the "bugs" aren't fixed, then they will refund your money. Good Luck!

Right you are! It's pretty famous for being terrible, mostly with bad voicing acting and glitches but I have seen people play it to completion as recently as this year, so it should be playable at the very least...
I have the Steam code that came with the collectors edition of the game. I uninstalled the disc installation last night and went to download the patches version through steam. I do have some new issues.

It crashes sometimes when opening it, it crashes if I try to skip the opening by hitting ESC. I have found if I hold ESC it will SOMETIMES get me to the menu. More annoying than the opening, I just cannot play the game! It crashes on the first cutscene of the game. Even when skipping it. I have tried running it in Windowed mode, run as administrator, ran in all compatibility mode with no results. I turned off HD settings in the menu and nothing.
