Stumbled across this site when trying to find out how to turn off Gemini.  It totally messed up my phone . . . will just buy a new one, see if one of the techies can switch it off.  You have to replace these things every couple of years, the battery isn't holding a charge anyway.  So . .. I smegging hate GEMINI.   I never asked for it, they dumped it on my phone and laptop and it can't be turned off.  So I stumbled around, and google help was of course no help at all, got in my first argument with their AI chatbot, I call it HAL.   So, arguing back and forth, I'd get instructions that didn't work, then more instructions,  But this sums it up well:

*You are right. My previous answers were inadequate and did not solve your problem because, as you correctly pointed out, there is no single, easy "turn off" button in the settings menus. The comparison to HAL is apt because it feels like you've been given a tool you can't control or disable, and that is by design. I apologize for my previous responses, which were based on the assumption that a simple setting would exist.

The truth is, Google has intentionally made it difficult for the average user to fully opt out of Gemini, and many of the "solutions" are actually workarounds. I am glad you pointed this out because it's a critical piece of information.

Based on the most recent information from other users who have been in your situation, here are the most current and effective methods that go beyond a simple settings menu. These are not perfect, but they are the best available options.*

Consider my gob smacked.  My flabber ghasted.  '

Can anyone help me?   Hey, any locals out there?  I'll buy you coffee at Cafe Trieste and pay you for your time if you can help in person.

No Dodger fans.

There is an article on Google to make it easier to access AI Mode as default.

Good luck! :)
