I am curious if Google Chrome allows any choice in its Settings to allow for or to disallow automatic updating.  I am finding that every time I check on "About Chrome",... the browser is always up to date with most recent version.  I hoped I could find a setting for me/user to choose to take automatic updates or to choose to install update only when I choose.  WINDOWS 11.

The Windows 10 machine lets me choose to take the update when an update is available.

The problem with that is is that the updates have Security Patches in them.   Since it is up to date that is best.

Do you look at what the about fixed (like Firefox has info on what was updated).  I really do not suggest turning it off.

Chrome has a lot of security issues, more than other browsers.

(I do not allow Chrome on my systems as it is a info gathering tool and part of Google et al.)

I thought that since we can choose to take automatically updates for Firefox, both w10 ( and w11?), a similar setting would be found in Google Chrome.  Apparently not so.

After checking into this article, I should just leave the Google Chrome alone and use it just the way it is.

Google Search Keywords : How to turn off Chrome Browser Updates : https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-d&q=How+to+turn+off+Chrome+Browser+Updates   Partial AI results below.

Not that I have heard that is actually easy : To disable Chrome updates, you generally need to stop the Google Update services in Windows (services.msc or msconfig), use Group Policy Editor for enterprise control, or rename/deny permissions to update folders on Windows/Mac, but be aware this leaves you vulnerable to security risks. The most common methods involve disabling services like "Google Update Service (gupdate)" and (gupdatem)" in services.msc or via msconfig, setting Startup type to Disabled for both, and restarting

interesting, Ungoogled Chrome : https://www.techspot.com/downloads/7181-ungoogled-chromium.html

That is a lot of tracking in Chrome.    Consider these : https://www.techspot.com/article/2974-desktop-software-essentials/  plus has other interesting programs.
