(copied and pasted, apologies for the format)

Yes, I keep my word. 10 Australian dollars (6 US approx). Just tell me ur paypal or other and I will donate to the first person to fix this problem.

I'm playing a browser-based game (its the adult version of the browser game Mighty Party - c*ntwars.com

It saves my profile and progress with all areas, EXCEPT, a weekly event. The event is basically a way to quickly gain cards for the relevant build you are going for. Unfortunately, every time I log out and back in to the game or my laptop, the event resets back to the start.  Interestingly, the game also saves earned "sparks" (a form of in-game currency), but still does not save progress made, when I log out and back in.

I have tried the following:

-asking players and friends in-game

-sending email to the in-game support (it just auto-replies but nothing else, devs have stopped supporting this game and the discord and reddit is no longer active

-using a different browser. Currently I use brave browser, but I have tried with google chrome and bing, same result.

-clearing cache

-"loosening up" certain privacy settings in brave such as cookies, making exemptions for this site (c*ntwars.com), etc.

-researching similar issues on reddit regarding browser-based games

But in between doing all these, there may be something I have missed. I'm reasonably tech-aware but not a veteran, but afaik since its a browser game that requires you to login when you load it, your progress shouldn't be lost.

Interestingly, when starting the game, I sometimes have to login and sometimes I do not.

If you can help me solve this directly, or any help in understanding what might be causing the issue, and that leads to a solution or workaround, would be much appreciated, and I will recompense you for it.

Thank you

Christoph

Nobody on BC works for financial reward, a post saying thank you is all that is hoped for, and it doesn't always happen.

If the developers no longer support the game and it and it is no longer available on Discord and Reddit then I suspect you are out of luck and will have to find another game to play.

Ty for editing and reply, Chris.

Yes it certainly looks that way.  I just didn't think it should be that hard to determine why a browser-based game records certain progress but not others, relatively speaking.

If I knew a few of the related factors, I might be able to fix it myself.  E.g is it user-based? cache?  or something with my browser?  Hence why i'm offering money, I just want to fix this, its been going on for ages, and I wont give up until I do, since I still enjoy the game.

@ZingLus tysm for reply, its no longer here for some reason, so for posterity ill post it below-

"It's possible that certain third-party cookies or local storage aren't being saved correctly. Try checking if the browser is blocking cookies or local storage for that specific game site. In Brave, you can go to the shield icon in the address bar and make sure that cookies and cross-site trackers are allowed for the site."

Awesome, thx Zing, i've turned off many of the shields that I know of for the above site in brave, so now when I click the shield icon in the address bar, it just says "shields are down for <site>".  I had done this prior to having the issue, unfortunately :(

Several players on the site that I mentioned the issue to have chimed in as well.  They asked about how I login, whether I have created an account.  Interestingly, I believe I had created two accounts, one for the site of its parent gaming conglomerate (nutaku), and one just for logging in directly to the site itself, the latter is what I currently use.  When I tried logging in with the former account, it was just a fresh account, meaning that I would have to grind all the cards and level ups I had acquired again (two years worth of play, logging in 2x/day for 10mins at a time); which I dread the idea of doing.

So yeah it might be an account issue; but again, I still can't rectify in my head how the game can save all my daily progress when I log off/log in, but not the progress of the fortnightly "events".

Hey Christoph,

From what you’re describing, it sounds like the weekly event progress is probably being stored locally in your browser, rather than on the game’s servers. That would explain why your sparks stay (server-side currency) but your event progress resets every time you log out.

A few things you could try:

  1. Stick to one browser for the event and don’t clear cookies or site data until it’s finished. Even privacy tools or extensions in Brave/Chrome can wipe this without you realising.

  2. Turn off any extensions that might block scripts or trackers, and maybe try the game in a clean browser profile.

  3. Check your browser settings to make sure it’s not set to clear data automatically when you close it.

  4. Try logging in manually each time instead of relying on auto-login, sometimes progress doesn’t sync properly otherwise.

  5. As a workaround, you could use a portable browser (like Firefox Portable) just for this game, so all the local data stays in one place and isn’t wiped.

If none of this works, it might be that the devs coded the event to only store locally, and with no active support it won’t sync online. In that case, backing up your local storage files could be the only way to “save” your event progress.

randy, tysm, this is fantastic info and using a portable broswer solved it!!!

I am happy to donate some cash / a coffee if you like.

I hope this thread will stick around, there are other players of the above game who struggle at times and could benefit from the info you guys have generously shared

Thanks again

I’d say this game is basically broken on that weekly event. The fact that sparks save but event progress doesn’t screams “bad server-side coding” or abandoned dev support. No matter what browser tweaks you do, it probably won’t stick. Brave or Chrome isn’t the problem here it’s the game itself. Frustrating, yeah, but I wouldn’t waste too much time trying to fix something that’s not meant to be fixed anymore. Maybe just enjoy what actually saves, or move on to a game that actually keeps your progress.

I encounter this issue quite often in browser games. Progress is often saved locally, and it's easy to mess it up by accidentally clearing your data. I've noticed that stability really depends on your browser and extensions. When I read stuff about online games and platforms, I sometimes use this guide as a reference because it explains how different saving systems and accounts work really well. After that, I started to pay more attention to cookies and cache. I no longer use auto-clear data. I also only play from one browser. This has really reduced the number of problems. I think developers should explain more clearly where progress is stored.
