How To Completely Remove Norton Security Products

Symantec Norton Internet Security 2008 is supposed to reduce the system lag that gave it a reputation as a resource hog.

Removing Norton Products, revisited:

 

Effecive way to remove Norton Product(s)

  1. Make sure you are logged in as Administrator User.
  2. Download an alternative product (free or paid) to replace Norton security product.
  3. Download Norton Removal Tool from www.norton.com/nrt (the page may be redirected to latest, and must be read to understand the warning)
  4. Save and close all program windows.
  5. Uninstall Norton Product from All programs/Programs and features in control panel (Start > Run > appwiz.cpl > ok)
  6. Now reboot and execute Norton Removal Tool Downloaded.
  7. Restart when asked.
  8. Verify no norton folders exist in SystemDrive.
  9. Verify that in Device Manager > View > Show hidden devices, no Symantec or Norton entries exist.(usually there wont be any)
  10. Optional : Clean temporary files and folders, prefetch data if you wish.
  11. Install the alernative product.

Norton Removal Tool uninstalls all the Norton products from your Windows computer
