Hello all,

I have lately been seeing youtube videos and messages on other web forums saying how good a utility called O&O Shutup 10++ is for tweaking Windows 11 to stop sending extra data to Microsoft, help stop popup advertisements, etc., and have been thinking of trying this program on my home computers.

Before I do so, however, I'd first like to ask if anyone here has used O&O Shutup 10++, and if so, how safe is it to use, especially if I use just the recommended settings?

Thanks in advance.

Been using it for years, and also put it on my wife's computer. Never had one problem with it, and it increases my privacy (which is rapidly disappearing due to M/Soft and AI).

In the beginning, just go with the default settings. There is lots of info on the web for various settings and what they do, plus it has pop-up tips when you click on a setting telling you more info on that particular setting.

Just remember to check it after every Windows update, sometimes Windows updates may re-set  back to default.

Because of the high number of abandoned threads, if there is no response after 3 days I remove the post from my answer list. If you wish further help after that PM me.

Yes it is safe.  I also have used it for years, along with thousands of other people.  You can easily undo any changes made with it if you would have problems with anything.  Download it from the official O&O site and test the file on virustotal.  I use all of the safe options and most of the optional options as well, and have had no issues with my use case.

Yes. is what made me leave Win7 to have control over all MS BS..

That and this : https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/microsoft/open-shell-brings-back-the-glory-days-of-the-windows-start-menu/

Note : If have a Tools folder on your desktop (should) make a folder for it.  Download and run it.

After major MS Updates go look at the Webpage for O&O it shows the date of release. If it is new download and save in the same folder replacing the old er one and run and reboot.

You can run with it all recommended turned off or adjust for your needs.

What's funny is 0&0's web site lists it as a free Anti-spy tool for Windows 10 and 11 yet they are also a Microsoft Partner.

Yes, so MS knows what it turns off.  Though most telling is the page used to say Gold Partner and now just says MS Partner.
